US Front Axle Parts Manufacturing
In the automotive industry, the planetary gear assembly is an assembly of parts used in a couple of other components in an automobile. The components it’s integrated in includes the transmission and the automotive transfer case. The planetary gear assembly consists of a sun gear, a few planet gears, a ring gear, and a gear carrier to hold all the planet gears in place. The sun gear and the carrier are both connected to shafts on either side of the planetary gear assembly. This is so they both can turn at the same time or at least one of them can turn while the other remain stationary.
Because the planetary gear assembly uses several gears, hence its name, it will need a couple of high quality precision metal shims. These precision shims will be used to ensure that all the gears in the planetary gear assembly are fully enmeshed and remain locked in place. Without these precision shims, the gears will slide back and forth, which can cause slippage, and then mechanical failure. The precision shims will also prevent the gears from grinding against any surfaces due to friction simply by occupying the space between the gears and surfaces and either side of the gears.
